Mama'S Nut Rolls - cooking recipe
Ingredients

8 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 cake Fleischmann's yeast (or 3 pkg. dry)
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. sugar
1 lb. shortening (1/2 Crisco, 1/2 butter)
4 eggs, beaten
Preparation

Sift
flour,
sugar and salt, cut in shortening to size of peas.
Dissolve
yeast in warm milk and add beaten eggs to mixture.
Add
to
flour mixture and knead until it comes away clean
from
hands.
Place in large bowl, cover with tea towel and place
in cold spot overnight (refrigerator will do).
In the olden
days
Mama
put
the bowl on the back porch.
When ready to use, let dough stand at room temperature until soft. Cut
into 4
sections
on a floured surface and roll out each one.
Spread nut filling over all of the dough surface.
Roll as for jelly roll, brush top with beaten egg.
Bake 45 minutes at 375\u00b0.
