Mattie'S Texas Tumbleweeds - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    tumbleweeds (young and tender)
    1 chopped onion
    1 c. tomato paste
    salt
    just a pinch sugar
    garlic
    hot peppers and other spices as desired
    plain or Spanish rice
Preparation
    Saute onion in a little oil.
    Add a can of tomato paste and enough water to make a thick sauce.
    Add all spices.
    Prepare the tumbleweeds (young and tender, 4 to 5 inches high).
    Pull off the roots.
    Wash greens in a colander and blanch.
    Add this to tomato mixture and simmer a few minutes.
    Serve as a side dish or over a bed of rice.
