Hot Water Cornbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pt. boiling water
    1 1/4 c. cornmeal
    1 tsp. salt
    shortening for frying
Preparation
    Add salt to boiling water.
    Stir in the meal, let cool until you can handle it; shape into patties and brown in skillet with at least 1 inch deep.
    Cook until golden brown, drain on paper towel. Serve hot.
    Delicious with turnip greens.
