Grandpa'S Favorite Mockingbird Brownies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. water
1/2 c. butter or margarine
1/2 c. vegetable oil
2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1/4 c. cocoa
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs, beaten
Buttermilk Frosting
1/2 c. chopped peanuts or other nuts (optional)

Preparation

Combine first three ingredients in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil.
Combine buttermilk and soda, stirring until soda dissolves.
Combine flour, sugar and cocoa in a large bowl.
Add hot mixture and stir well.
Add buttermilk mixture and eggs.
Mix well.
Spoon into a greased jelly roll pan (15 x 10 x 1-inch). Bake at 400\u00b0 for 15 minutes.
Frost with Buttermilk Frosting while still warm.
Sprinkle with nuts. Cool and cut into squares.
