Boiled Raisin Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    1 c. sugar
    1/4 c. shortening
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. nutmeg or cloves or 1/2 tsp. of each
    1 egg
    1 1/2 c. raisins
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1 1/4 c. water
Preparation
    Cover raisins with boiling water and simmer 10 minutes. Drain water into cup and use later.
    (Try and have at least 3/4 cup, maybe 1 cup).
