Sauerkraut Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large onion, chopped (1 c.)
    1/2 c. chopped green pepper
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 can (16 oz.) sauerkraut
    1 can (16 oz.) peeled tomatoes
    3 potatoes, pared and cubed
    3 carrots, chopped
    1/2 c. water
    1 Tbsp. brown sugar
    1 tsp. sugar
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 pkg. frankfurters, sliced diagonally
Preparation
    Saute onion and green pepper in shortening until tender.
    Add all remaining ingredients except frankfurters.
    Simmer, covered, 35 minutes or until ingredients are tender.
    Add frankfurters; simmer 10 minutes longer.
