Candied Yams - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 or 4 big or 6 small sweet potatoes
    2 c. white sugar
    1 stick margarine
    1 Tbsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cut potatoes long ways.
    Cook on top of stove in a little water with sugar, margarine and vanilla.
    Cover and let tenderize and cook down.
    If they don't candy enough
    add \" a little more sugar, shaking, but not stirring.
