Florence Schwartz Amish Date Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. finely cut dates (or use raisins)
    1 c. hot water
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. flour
    1 egg
    1 tsp. butter
    1/2 c. nuts
Preparation
    Pour hot water over dates and soda; let stand until cool. Combine all ingredients together and put in pan and bake.
    Break into squares and serve with bananas and whipped cream.
