Kare'S Toffee - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. butter (not margarine)
    1/4 c. water
    2 small packs slivered almond pieces
    2 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. clear Karo syrup
    2 (1/2 lb.) Hershey milk chocolate bars
Preparation
    Melt butter and sugar in a pot, then add water and Karo syrup. Cook over low heat until mixture reaches hard-crack stage (300\u00b0 if using candy thermometer).
    Stir the whole time.
    Remove from heat; add almonds and stir.
    Spread toffee on 2 well-greased cookie sheets and cool.
