Divinity Fudge - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. light corn syrup
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. water
    2 egg whites, room temperature
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Combine first 4 ingredients in a heavy saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved.
    Cook without stirring to firm ball at 240\u00b0 with candy thermometer. Beat egg whites until stiff, but not dry.
    Pour about 1/2 of sugar mixture over egg whites, beating constantly.
    Cook remaining syrup to soft crack, 270\u00b0.
    Add syrup slowly to first mixture, beating constantly until mixture holds its shape.
    Add vanilla and nuts. Drop by spoonful onto wax paper.
