Spanish Rice - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. uncooked rice
    1/4 c. margarine
    1 medium onion, thinly sliced
    2 c. stewed tomatoes with juice
    1/2 medium green pepper, diced
    1 tsp. salt
    dash of pepper
    1 c. water
Preparation
    Heat margarine in saucepan; add onion and green pepper.
    Cook and stir over high heat until light brown.
    Add tomatoes, water, salt and pepper.
    Bring to boil gently.
    Cover tightly; lower heat and simmer gently 30 minutes.
    If desired, you may add hamburger and bacon bits before cooking.
