Evelyn'S Old-Fashioned Coconut Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter
    2 c. sugar
    4 eggs, separated
    3 c. all-purpose flour
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar well. Add egg yolks. Beat well. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together. Add alternately with the milk to the butter mixture. Add vanilla. Beat the egg whites until stiff and fold into the batter. Pour into three 9-inch well-greased and floured cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Cool well before icing.
