Holiday Eggnog - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. plus 3 Tbsp. sugar
    2 eggs, separated
    1/4 tsp. salt
    4 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 small bottle 7-Up
    1/2 c. cream, whipped
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
Preparation
    Beat 1/2 cup sugar into egg yolks; add salt.
    Stir in milk. Beat egg whites until foamy; gradually add 3 tablespoons sugar, beating to soft peaks.
    Add to egg yolk mixture.
    Add vanilla and 7-Up; stir.
    Chill.
    Dot with whipped cream and sprinkle with nutmeg.
