Merk'S Coffee Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 eggs
    2 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 pt. sour cream
    6 Tbsp. soft butter or margarine
    1 c. firm brown sugar
    2 tsp. cinnamon
    1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla; add eggs singly, beating well after each addition.
    Sift flour, baking powder and baking soda together; add to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream. Spread 1/2 of batter in 10-inch greased tube pan.
    Cream butter, cinnamon and brown sugar together.
    Add nuts; mix well.
    Dot batter mixture in pan with nut mixture.
    Cover with remaining batter.
    Dot with remaining nut mixture.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 50 minutes.
    Cool for 10 minutes after baking.
