Custard - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/2 tsp. salt
    4 egg yolks
    4 c. milk
    2 tsp. vanilla extract
Preparation
    Combine sugar, cornstarch and salt in double boiler top.
    Mix in egg.
    Gradually add milk.
    Stir well.
    Cook over boiling water, stirring constantly, until mixture is slightly thickened, about 5 to 10 minutes.
    Do not overcook.
    Remove from boiling water.
    Stir in vanilla.
    Makes 1 quart.
