Crispy Coconut-Oatmeal Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
    1 c. shortening
    2 large eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 c. regular oats (uncooked)
    2 c. crisp rice cereal
    1 c. flaked coconut
Preparation
    Beat shortening and sugars at medium speed of electric mixer until blended; add eggs and vanilla, beating well.
    Combine flour, soda, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture, mixing well. Stir in oats and remaining ingredients.
    Shape into 1-inch balls and place 2 inches apart on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Flatten slightly with fork.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 12 minutes. Transfer to wire racks to cool.
    Makes 7 dozen.
