Ambrosia Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 can crushed pineapple in juice (do not drain)
    cold water
    2 c. boiling water
    1 can mandarin orange sections (drain off juice)
    1 3/4 c. Cool Whip
    1 pkg. orange-flavored Jell-O
    1 1/2 c. miniature marshmallows
    1/2 c. shredded coconut
    4 c. prunes
    10 egg whites
    sugar to taste
    2 Tbsp. lemon juice
    2 Tbsp. butter, softened (to grease baking dish)
    1 1/3 c. sugar
    6 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1 tsp. salt
    6 c. milk
    6 beaten egg yolks, slightly beaten
    2 Tbsp. butter
    3 tsp. pure vanilla extract
    8 large bananas, sliced thick
    2 containers Cool Whip
Preparation
    You will need a clear, glass, deep dish casserole dish or glass lasagna pan.
    Combine sugar, cornstarch and salt in a saucepan.
    Gradually stir in milk, stirring mixture as you pour it in.
    Place on heat and cook slowly, stirring constantly, as it begins to thicken and boil.
    Boil for 1 minute.
    Remove from the heat.
