English Toffee - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. butter
    3 Tbsp. water
    chopped pecans (3/4 c.)
    1 tsp. vanilla
    4 (7/8 oz.) bars chocolate
Preparation
    Combine sugar, water and butter in pan.
    Cook to 300\u00b0, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
    Add vanilla and pour into a buttered 9 x 9-inch pan.
    Lay the 4 chocolate bars on top and spread evenly as they melt.
    While still warm, sprinkle chopped pecans over top.
    Cool completely and break into pieces.
