Taffy Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 lb. sugar (cane)
    2 lb. white Karo syrup
    3/4 pt. good cream
    5 sheets gelatine (can be bought at drug stores)
    1 saucer shaved Parowax
    1 1/2 tsp. extract
Preparation
    Put everything\texcept\tgelatine
    and
    extract in large pan. Soak gelatine
    in
    water.
    Cook
    and stir all time until crackles when tested
    in
    ice
    water.
    Take off stove, squeeze all water out of
    gelatine and put gelatine in and stir.
    Then pour in buttered platters and cool until you can handle.
    Pull and put in extract
    and
    coloring (if wanted).
    Cut in chunks with scissors. Makes about 5 pounds.
