Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. flour
    1 c. cornmeal
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 green bell pepper, finely chopped
    1/2 medium onion, finely chopped
    1 egg, beaten
    1/2 c. water (about)
    1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
    oil (for deep frying)
Preparation
    Combine flour, cornmeal and salt in bowl; mix well.
    Add green pepper, onion, egg and water; mix well.
    Chill, covered, in refrigerator for 12 hours or longer.
    Stir in baking powder.
    Drop by tablespoonfuls into hot oil in skillet.
    Deep fry until golden brown.
    Drain on paper towel.
    Yield:
    24 servings.
