Ma-Ma'S Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. sifted plain flour
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. ground ginger
    1 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. molasses
    1 egg
    1 c. hot water
    1/2 c. sugar
Preparation
    Sift flour, soda, ginger, cinnamon and salt onto waxed paper. Cream shortening with sugar until fluffy in a large bowl.
    Beat in molasses and egg.
    Stir in flour mixture, half at a time, just until blended.
    Beat in hot water until smooth.
    Pour into a well-greased pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes or until center springs back when lightly touched.
    Leave in pan on rack to cool 10 minutes.
    Serve warm or cold.
