No-Bake Peach Crisp - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. water
    2 Tbsp. butter
    3 to 4 c. sliced fresh peaches
    3 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1 pinch of salt
    1/8 tsp. almond flavoring
    2 c. natural cereal
Preparation
    Into a medium size saucepan measure 1/4 cup of the sugar.
    Add cornstarch, salt and water.
    Stir to dissolve, then cook over medium heat stirring constantly until mixture thickens.
    Add the remaining 3/4 cup of sugar and return to heat; cook until sugar is dissolved.
    Add almond flavoring and fresh peaches.
    Stir to mix thoroughly.
    Pour into an 8-inch square pan or pie pan.
    Top with cereal mixture, (or the fresh peach mixture can be poured directly into individual serving dishes and then topped with cereal mixture).
    Serve with cream, whipped topping or ice cream.
