Clam Chowder - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 to 4 cans minced clams with juice
    4 to 6 onions, finely chopped
    4 large potatoes, peeled and cut into small pieces
    2 c. water
    salt and pepper to taste
    2 c. half and half
    pinch of thyme
    1/4 c. butter
Preparation
    Saute onions in butter or margarine.
    Cook potatoes in water until tender with seasoning.
    Combine onions with potatoes in their water and clams, heating to boiling point.
    Add thyme and half and half.
    Stir until blended and hot enough to serve.
    Do not boil.
