Charleston Red Rice - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 strips bacon, cubed
    2 onions, chopped fine
    1 small can tomato paste
    1 1/2 to 2 cans water
    3 tsp. salt
    2 to 3 tsp. sugar
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    2 c. raw rice
    8 Tbsp. bacon grease (optional)
Preparation
    Fry bacon, remove from pan.
    Saute onions in grease.
    Add tomato paste, water, salt, sugar and pepper.
    Cook uncovered slowly (about 10 minutes) until it measures about 2 cups.
    Pour into the top of a rice steamer with the rice.
    Add extra bacon grease if desired.
