Red Cabbage - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 to 4 lb. head of red cabbage
    5 to 6 Tbsp. oil
    1 large onion, sliced
    3 to 4 apples, skinned and sliced
    salt, sugar, vinegar
    1 bay leaf
    3 to 4 whole cloves, ground
    1 to 2 whole allspice, ground
Preparation
    Clean and chop red cabbage.
    Heat oil in large pan over medium heat and add cabbage and onion.
    Stir to coat cabbage.
    Add about 1/2 to 1/3 cups water and 2 to 3 tablespoons vinegar.
    Add the apples and spices; stir.
    Cover to let steam 70 to 90 minutes. Taste for salt, sugar and more vinegar.
