Granny'S Corn Light Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. plain meal (white, preferable)
1 1/2 c. plain flour
2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. soda
1/2 to 1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. vegetable shortening
Preparation

Heat shortening in an oblong or square baking pan that bread will be baked in.
Pour buttermilk into mixing bowl; add meal. Sift the flour, soda and salt into this; add sugar.
Stir well. Pour about half of hot shortening into batter; continue stirring until well mixed.
Pour batter into heated pan and cook at 350\u00b0 to 375\u00b0 for forty-five minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
