Almond Raspberry Bars - cooking recipe

3/4 c. butter or margarine, softened
3/4 c. powdered sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
3/4 c. raspberry jam
3 egg whites
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. shredded coconut
1 c. blanched almonds, slivered
Preparation

Cream butter or margarine and powdered sugar.
Add flour, mixing well, and press into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly brown.
Spread jam over hot layer.
Beat egg whites until foamy.
Gradually add sugar, beating until stiff.
Fold in coconut.
Spread over jam.
Sprinkle with almonds and bake for 20 minutes.
Cool and cut into squares.
