Ingredients

1/2 c. butter
2/3 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
Preparation

Cream butter, brown sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy; beat in egg.
Sift together dry ingredients and 1/4 teaspoon of salt; mix into creamed mixture.
Divide dough into 4 parts; make 12 balls about 1/2-inch in diameter out of each part.
Place balls on ungreased cookie sheet.
Flatten by crisscrossing with fork tines. Bake at 375\u00b0 for about 8 minutes.
Serves 8.
