Jam Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    2 c. dried peaches
    1 tsp. cloves
    1 tsp. vanilla
    4 Tbsp. soda
    2 c. nuts
    1 box raisins
    1/2 c. butter
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. each: cinnamon and nutmeg
    6 Tbsp. buttermilk
    6 eggs
    1 c. strawberry jam
    1 c. peach preserves
Preparation
    Mix dry ingredients, then add remaining ingredients, mixing well.
    Pour into 2 greased and floured layer pans.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 until toothpick comes out clean.
    Frost with caramel frosting or other favorite frosting.
