Ingredients

2 sticks butter
3 c. plain flour
1 c. buttermilk
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 can Angel Flake coconut
3 c. sugar
5 eggs, separated
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. butter flavor
Preparation

Cream butter and add sugar; cream well.
Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating slightly after each one.
Dissolve soda in the teaspoon of hot water.
Add to buttermilk.
Add milk and flour, alternately to butter mixture.
Beat well.
Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites, vanilla and coconut.
Bake in a well-greased and floured tube pan at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
Decrease heat to 325\u00b0 and bake 1 hour.
Let cake rest in pan for 10 minutes.
Turn out and cover with cloth until cool.
