Buttermilk Fudge - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. buttermilk
    1 c. butter (not margarine)
    1/4 c. light corn syrup
    2 tsp. baking soda
    4 c. sugar
    2 c. chopped pecans
    2 Tbsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Put buttermilk, butter, corn syrup, baking soda and sugar into a large 6 to 8-quart pot.
    Place on low heat, stirring until sugar is melted.
    Cook to 236\u00b0 on candy thermometer or until soft ball forms when dropped into cold water.
    Remove from heat.
    Cool to lukewarm.
    Add nuts and vanilla.
    Beat until mixture becomes thick and loses it's gloss.
    Pour into buttered 12 x 14-inch pan. Cool.
    Cut into squares.
    Makes about 3 pounds.
