3 c sifted cake flour
1 tsp soda
1 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c butter
1 1/4 c sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
2 Tbsp whole anise seed
Preparation

Sift together, flour, soda, cream of tartar and salt, (several times). Cream butter and sugar until light. Add eggs, then Anise seed. Chill until firm enough to shape. Shape into small balls an inch in diameter. Sprinkle more anise seed on greased baking sheet and place dough balls far apart. Bake in hot oven, at 400 degrees for 8 minutes.
