Texas Hash - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 Tbsp. shortening
    2 large onions, sliced
    2 green peppers, sliced
    1 lb. ground beef
    2 c. canned tomatoes
    1 c. cooked rice
    1 tsp. chili powder
    1 tsp. salt
    dash of pepper
Preparation
    Melt shortening in a skillet.
    Saute the sliced onions and green peppers until tender.
    Add ground beef; cook until there is no pink left in the meat, stirring with a fork to make it crumble. Add tomatoes, rice and seasoning.
    Arrange in a 9-inch square baking dish; top with bread crumbs.
    Brown slowly in a 350\u00b0 oven for 20 to 30 minutes.
