Grandma Airhart'S "Tea Cakes" - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
3/8 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. nutmeg (optional)
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar.
Add eggs.
Add dry ingredients (sifted together) and liquids alternately.
Chill for several hours before rolling out.
When the dough is the desired thickness, sprinkle sugar over surface and roll lightly.
This dough can also be formed into a roll and frozen.
Slice into cookies; place on baking sheet and sprinkle with sugar. Temperature of oven and length of baking time depends on thickness of cookie.
