Ethel'S Cream Gravy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 oz. butter or shortening
    4 oz. cornstarch or flour
    2 qts. milk and stock
    salt
    pepper
Preparation
    Melt butter in heavy saucepan.
    Add flour.
    Stir together making a thick paste.
    Cook until smooth.
    Add milk and stock, stirring constantly until desired thickness is reached.
    Bring to a boil.
    Salt and pepper to taste.
