Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large cucumber, sliced in 1/4-inch thick rounds (2 c.)
    1 medium-size onion, sliced in thin rounds (3/4 c.)
    1 c. granulated sugar
    1/2 c. distilled white vinegar
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. mustard seed
    1/4 tsp. each: celery seed and turmeric
Preparation
    Mix all ingredients in a 2-quart microwavable casserole. Microwave on High, 7 to 8 minutes, stirring twice, until cucumber is crisp-tender and onion translucent.
    Ladle into a glass jar (rinsed with hot water to prevent cracking).
    Cover; cool slightly and refrigerate.
    Makes 2 1/2 cups.
