Perfect Oyster Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    2 Tbsp. water
    1 pt. oysters
    1 qt. scalded milk
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
Preparation
    Combine the flour, salt, pepper and water.
    Blend together to make a smooth paste.
    Stir into the oysters with their liquid in saucepan over low heat.
    Simmer oysters over low heat until edges curl.
    Pour into the milk.
    Remove from heat and cover.
    Let stand 10 or 15 minutes to improve flavor.
    Add the butter or margarine and reheat briefly.
    Rinse soup tureen and/or soup plates with hot water so soup will stay piping hot.
    Serve with oyster crackers.
