Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. Bisquick
    1/4 c. sugar
    1 egg
    3/4 c. hot water
    2/3 c. dark molasses
    1/3 c. shortening
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. ginger
Preparation
    Heat oven to 325\u00b0.
    Grease and flour squash 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Beat all ingredients in large mixer bowl on low speed, scraping bowl constantly for 30 seconds.
    Beat on medium speed, scraping bowl occasionally for 3 minutes.
    Pour into pan.
    Bake until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, about 50 minutes.
    Serve with whipped cream or applesauce, if desired.
    Makes 9 servings.
