German Heaven And Earth - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 lb. potatoes, peeled and cubed
2 c. water
1 Tbsp. salt
1 lb. apples, peeled and cubed
3 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
2 oz. butter
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
5 bacon slices
2 small onions, chopped

Preparation

Boil potatoes in water for 10 minutes.
Add apples and boil until tender.
Drain and mash mixture.
Add sugar and lemon juice. Add butter, spices and mix well.
Cook bacon and crumble; set aside.
Saute onion.
Mix onion with bacon and sprinkle over mixture.
Serves 6 to 8.
