Scalloped Tomatoes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    4 slices bread, coarsely crumbled
    6 medium tomatoes, peeled and sliced or 1 can cooked tomatoes to equal 3 1/2 c.
    salt
    pepper
    sugar
Preparation
    Cook onion in butter until tender, but not brown.
    Stir in bread crumbs.
    In a 1-quart casserole, layer half the tomatoes; sprinkle with salt, pepper and sugar.
    Cover with half the crumb mixture.
    Repeat layers.
    Bake, uncovered, at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes. Makes 6 servings.
