Jam Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    3 eggs
    3 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 c. strawberry or blackberry jam
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar, beating together well.
    Add unbeaten eggs, one at a time, beating well after addition.
    Add jam and beat.
    Sift flour, salt and spices together.
    Add soda to buttermilk.
    Add flour and milk alternately to cream mixture, beating after each addition.
    Bake in greased and floured 9-inch tube pan at 300\u00b0 for 1 hour.
