Ingredients

1 (9-inch) pastry shell, baked
1 3/4 c. milk
4 Tbsp. margarine
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
2/3 c. flour
4 eggs, separated
1 Tbsp. vanilla
pinch of salt
3/4 c. granulated sugar
Preparation

Bake shell.
Heat milk and margarine to boiling.
Combine brown sugar, flour, egg yolks and vanilla.
Mix with small amount of warm milk.
Continue to cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thick.
Pour in shell.
Mix egg whites with sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar and salt to make meringue.
