Cucumber Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 large cucumbers, sliced thin
    1 small onion, sliced
    1/2 c.sugar
    white vinegar
    salt and pepper
Preparation
    Cut cucumbers thin, place in a bowl and cover with water and 1/4 cup salt.
    Drain, add sliced onion and sprinkle 1/2 to 3/4 cup sugar.
    Let stand until liquid forms (about 1 hour).
    Add vinegar to cover cukes, season with salt and pepper.
    Chill and serve.
