Leek Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 large leeks, well cleaned and cut into 1-inch portions (use white part)
    4 medium potatoes, peeled and cut up
    4 carrots, cut up
    1 large onion, cut up
    1 c. cabbage, cut up
    1/2 c. sour cream (optional)
Preparation
    Cook all vegetables in water or broth to cover.
    Season with salt and pepper.
    When vegetables are tender, put them through the blender with the liquid.
    Blend until smooth.
    Add 1/2 cup sour cream (optional) and serve hot.
