April'S Buffet Surprise - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 lb. boneless chuck roast or chuck steak, trimmed of fat
2 cans (1 lb. each) sauerkraut, well drained
1 c. dark brown sugar
1 large can tomatoes with juice
1 sliced onion
1 apple, cut into slices, unpeeled
freshly ground pepper
Preparation

Place beef in a large pot, at least 4-quart size.
Place sauerkraut on top of meat.
Sprinkle brown sugar over sauerkraut and pour tomatoes on top of that.
Place onions and pieces of apples in the pot and grind pepper over everything.
Cover the pot and cook in slow oven at 300\u00b0 until meat falls apart and is very tender, 3 to 4 hours.
This can be made ahead and frozen or refrigerated to be reheated before serving. Serves 4 to 6 adults.
