Festive Tossed Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sugar (can try adding Splenda; may be a little less)
    1/3 c. cider or red wine vinegar
    2 Tbsp. lemon juice
    2 Tbsp. finely chopped onion
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. oil (can use olive oil)
    2 tsp. poppy seeds
    10 c. torn romaine lettuce (can use less, if desired)
    1 c. shredded Swiss cheese
    1 medium apple, cored and cubed
    1 medium pear, cored and cubed
    dried cranberries or cherries (use as desired)
    chopped cashews (use as desired)
Preparation
    In a blender or food processor, combine sugar, vinegar, lemon juice, onion and salt. Cover and process until blended. With blender running, gradually add oil. Add poppy seeds and blend.
