Hopping John Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 (15 oz.) cans black-eyed peas
    1 pkg. dried onion soup mix
    1 c. rice (dry)
    1/2 lb. hot sausage, cooked and drained
    1 chicken bouillon
    water
Preparation
    Drain peas, reserving liquid.
    Add enough water to pea liquid to make 2 cups.
    Combine peas, soup mix, liquid and sausage.
    Bring this mixture to a boil and reduce heat to low.
    Cover tightly and cook until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed, about 30 minutes. Add more water or liquid, if needed.
