Half A Pound Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. butter (1 c.)
    2 c. sugar
    4 eggs, separated
    3 c. sifted flour
    3/4 c. milk
    2 tsp. vanilla flavoring
    1 tsp. double-action baking powder or 1 1/2 tsp. single action
    1/2 tsp. salt (add to flour)
Preparation
    Cream butter (at room temperature) and sugar until light and fluffy.
    Add egg yolks and beat well.
    Add flour alternately with milk and vanilla.
    Beat egg whites with baking powder; fold into mixture.
    Bake in 325\u00b0 oven in a tube pan lined on the bottom with greased wax paper for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
    This may also be baked in 2 bread pans for 45 minutes, if preferred.
