Life Saver Frosting - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 level tsp. flour
    3/4 c. milk
    3/4 c. sugar
    1/3 c. shortening
    1/3 c. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
    pinch of salt
Preparation
    Cook flour and milk until thick and cool (do this while cake is baking).
    Cream sugar, shortening and butter well and add to cooled flour mixture; add vanilla and salt.
    Beat until fluffy and about the consistency of whipped cream.
    This is a life saver when you need icing but are out of confectioners sugar.
