Oatmeal Molasses Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 c. flour
    1/2 c. flour (reserve)
    1 Tbsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. soda
    8 c. oats (quick)
    2 c. melted shortening
    2 c. light molasses
    4 eggs, beaten
    1/4 c. hot water
    2 c. ground pecans
    3 c. seedless raisins
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. ginger
Preparation
    Sift together the 8 cups flour, salt and soda.
    Mix oatmeal, sugar and ginger.
    Stir in melted shortening, molasses, eggs, water, sifted dry ingredients, nuts and raisins. Work dough by hand until well mixed. Add 1/2 cup flour if needed. Roll portions of dough to 1/4-inch thickness.
    Cut with 3 1/2-inch cutter. Place on lightly greased sheets. Brush with water and sprinkle with sugar.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
